Neapolitan people are poets even when they want to tell you “you are disgusting” (fai schifo in Italian). We picked a few of the most colorful expressions, hoping you will enjoy them as much as we do.

O puorco quanno vede a te se mette a cravatta!

When the pig sees you, he wears a tie! Ergo: even the pig thinks you are disgusting.

Si comm' u cafè salat' e a pasta doce.

You are like salted coffee and sweet pasta. Ergo: you are awful.

Tu si nu problema ecologico: assì te lave ‘nzuzzisci l'acqua e assì nun te lave ‘nzuzzisci l'aria.

You are an environmental problem: if you wash you make the water dirty, if you don’t wash you contaminate the air.

'E hai voglia a mettere rum, chi nasce strunz’ nun po' addiventà babbà.

You can add as much rum as you like; a piece of poop will never become a babà (delicious pastry filled with rum).
